As long as the book is open... everything is possible.
Ongoing: I am deeply buried in revisions to both LEGEND OF THE FOX and ENSHADOWED -- editorial changes requested by major publishing houses! The YA publisher wants a stronger love story in ENSHADOWED (I think that's great!) and the other publisher wants a middle grade series to start with LEGEND. The main thing I have to do to for that story is cut, cut, cut to the right length!
Countdown: In one week I'm off to Chicago to join my agent, Ammi-Joan Paquette (Erin Murphy Literary Agency) and others in the 'Gang of Erin' at their annual retreat.
On May 15, the Aldine ISD will hold Celebrate Teen Lit '10 at Nimitz High School. Jay Asher, Jennifer Ziegler, and Joe Hayes are among the authors who will be there.
April 17, 2010: Had to miss the inaugural meeting of the new Houston YA/MG writers group. Our organizer par excellence is Mary Lindsey, author of Shattered Souls (Fall 2011). Unfortunately, it looks like I'll have to miss the May and June meetings, too, because of my schedule at UHCL.
April 10, 2010: The Teen Book Con in Alief (Texas) was fantastic! I met Jimmy Gownley, the uber-talented author/illustrator of the middle grade graphic novel series, Amelia Rules! Then there were Sharon Draper, Judson Roberts, Cynthia Leitich Smith... and more. A stellar day!
